Burn
This is one of the most common types of injuries sustained at home – kids or adults alike. When you or one of your kids suffers from a burn, you need to act fast! The first way to remedy a burn is to run cool water over the burnt area of the skin. You can also apply cold and wet towel over it as an alternative. Once that is done, cover the burnt area with gauze or use burn ointment to relieve the pain.
If the burn is deep, make sure to bring your child to the ER immediately or call for help. This will prevent damage from spreading while you are trying to seek help. If the skin breaks, apply antibiotic cream over it to avoid acquiring infection. Your first aid training in VIC could prevent any form of infection on the skin.
Cuts and Scrapes
This is another common type of accident experienced at home by kids. When they are running and playing around, they could easily get scratches on their skin or cuts when in contact with any objects they are playing with.
If your child complains of cuts and scrapes, press over a clean cloth to the area of the cut. This will help stop the bleeding and prevent infectious organisms from making its way onto the open wound. You should also wash the wound to prevent infection. Apply antibiotic treatment over the wound to prevent infection (use Neosporin or bacitracin). If, in case, you are unable to stop the bleeding even with your first aid training, call for help immediately.
On the other hand, all cuts that are caused by animal bite should be checked by a doctor.
Insect Bites or Sting
Depending on the type of bite or insect who bit your child, this is a minor issue that you can easily deal with VIC first aid training knowledge. Thus, the first thing you need to do is to investigate the type of bite and which insect bit your child. If there is a stinger, make sure to remove it as this is what is causing your child tremendous pain. If the area continues to cause pain or itchiness, use a topical antihistamine or hydrocortisone cream. Make sure the skin isn’t scabbed though when you apply the topical treatment. It is also important to have your child tested by a doctor to ensure it isn’t Lyme disease.  Check out Australian First Aid
