Quotations
The quotations below represent the opinions of respondents to the firm survey. These individuals are unrelated to InsideArch. Their opinions are based on their individual experiences and in no way reflect or represent the views of InsideArch or its employees. Other opinions, including contrary opinions, may exist.

"Any position at this firm is a vital one. As a very small office, everyone has, by necessity, their fingers in every pie."

"The work is varied. Just last month I helped on a new single family residence, a doctor's office interior, a new office building, an adaptive reuse home, and several adaptive reuse multi-use buildings. Being in a historic area, this firm tries to secure as many adaptive reuse or historic renovations as possible. The culture here is one of tackling a challenge with each new project. The adaptive reuse projects give us a way to stretch our design muscles: how to respect the history and still shape a new way for the area, and the building itself, to function. Design here is contextual and individual. There is no overriding style, unless consistently quality work is considered a style."

"As a small firm, every person matters. That means also that every person is actively involved with design, construction documents, site visits, client interaction, office organization, code analysis, etc. I do not think there is a job yet that has been denied to me for any reason other than a need for efficiency. Often, when there is an extended deadline, I am thrown into a new type of work, just because they know I will need the experience later. I am encouraged to ask for new types of work, and to ask for more challenging work or a change whenever I feel the need."

"Energy and creativity are a must here. The only time that anyone's day drags by is when doing code analysis. We are pretty relaxed, sometimes cutting up, sometimes playing music softly, but never as a distraction. The office is very comfortable. There is even a habit, every few Fridays, of wine tasting and talking about projects. It’s a time where everyone in the firm sits around our round conference table with a new wine and often a sharpie marker and trace paper, discussing ways to make our work better. This is where a lot of our design happens, together, helping each other make it better."

"[The management is] doing wonderfully! These guys are all in it for the long haul, sink or swim, this is their firm and they take full ownership of it. I personally started here to learn from them, to absorb as much from their energy and care for the profession as possible. I think everyone here is trying to get at that passion that they share for what they do. It is sometimes a quiet passion, but is shows through every decision and every project that at the core there is a genuine desire to do the best work, for the best reasons, possible."
