Quotations
The quotations below represent the opinions of respondents to the firm survey. These individuals are unrelated to InsideArch. Their opinions are based on their individual experiences and in no way reflect or represent the views of InsideArch or its employees. Other opinions, including contrary opinions, may exist.

"Never believe anything they say during the interview."

"The firm is great to work for if you are working for the right project team. Some teams are more organized than others, while some projects are inefficient and understaffed. The majority of projects are run efficiently though. Some staff are workaholics, but do not be intimidated. The firm has majorly upgraded a lot of things, but still lacks a lot of elements that the cutting edge design firms offer. Although the design work is not the greatest, the firm is growing, and is very busy which offers anyone willing to work for it an excellent opportunity."

"While CRI tries to project an image of high design, they are most interested in production. The quality of work is not as important as completing it on budget and getting it out the door. This lack of quality assurance has caused serious trouble on a number of projects. Poor project management insures that any attempt at getting quality work done on budget and schedule is thwarted."

"Interesting projects are given to a select few favored employees. Licensing is not encouraged or facilitated."

"They do not encourage the employees from getting licensed since one partner is not licensed."

"Mostly residential projects."

"CRI occasionally turned out good design, but without any sort of unifying philosophy. Work hours were long, though not outrageous, and when their back was to the wall the principals would approve straight time compensation for hours worked over 40, but not often."

"The connections they have with the development community in NYC have kept them working through the downturn and (non)recovery."

"They will not give you credit if you do the good jobs but you will be in trouble even you make a very minor mistake."

"Yes, the firm does take an active role in developing future leaders, but management is frequently behind in reviewing its employees’ quality of work, production levels, and business ethics."

"Professional development was actively discouraged. There's no other way to put it. For some reason working towards licensing was seen as some sort of threat. And forget any sort of conferences, lectures, classes. The firm existed to make a profit, not provide opportunity."

"There are only two licensed architects in this office. But for some reasons, they list that there are 22 RA as the AIA firm."

"Most people in the firm are great to work with. Some PMs are not as fun to work with as others, but this is evident in every firm I am sure."

"Interns were poorly paid, worked hard, and expected to fill in on the phones and reception desk whenever things got busy. Filing, copying and mail runs were daily tasks for interns. At least they paid."

"The office layout is very horrible. You thought you walked into the SWEET's catalogue factory that has exploded. The office would not make a favorable impression upon clients. That is why they seldom invite clients to the office."

"Very fast pace office. A lot of work to go around and a lot of variety in the projects. Some new construction, come conversion, some commercial. I often find myself looking at the clock and wondering how it is 6pm already"

"Some projects are understaffed. Some employees are under-utilized to what their particular strengths are. But overall, management is doing generally well."
