Quotations
The quotations below represent the opinions of respondents to the firm survey. These individuals are unrelated to InsideArch. Their opinions are based on their individual experiences and in no way reflect or represent the views of InsideArch or its employees. Other opinions, including contrary opinions, may exist.

"Archteype is not the typical office atmosphere. It operates as a studio... open office, much discussion, very little in the way of official protocol. Advancement from intern to project architect in a short time - based on experience and motivation above all else. It is small, intimate, and active. Diversity of projects and scales of design; even if not world-class stuff, it is at least interesting. Always looking to hire talented, intelligent architects and interns."

"The role in career advancement the firm takes is active; but it must be said that it is the self-motivated who get ahead faster. There is room for the comfortable architect who does not want extra responsibility... but the eager are certainly rewarded. Bonuses are based upon performance, and advancement as well."

"The people are basically a family. Everyone sits together in a studio without partitions or cubicles. Conversation is constant and informal. There is continuous consultation and commentary - both of the architectural and the comical types. The studio operates as a unit - overlapping on most projects and continuously refining the working methods. All information is open and shared, from the top to the bottom. The lowliest intern is fully aware of what the principals are doing and vice-versa. Not bad for a group of 10 people at all levels of the profession."

"The atmosphere is energetic... if a bit of a boys club. It is informal (and that is putting it lightly). The language is salty. The busy times are tense and mildly emotional (i.e. yelling and gnashing of teeth). But the camaraderie is always present. Nothing is hidden or passive-aggressive. All thoughts are shared, even if those thoughts could be somewhat course. This place is not for the timid or the sensitive."

"The two principals are seasoned professionals. They know their market and their clients well. They tend to keep the clients that come in the door. Their management skills are based on their years of experience in this market... but a few of the senior staff have input that the principals rely on and respond to. They are definitely the driving force in the firm, but they are by no means prima-donna architects with a single architectural vision that is unquestioned. They are dominant but fair."
